Season's Greetings from the Winelands Kitchen
 
I cannot believe that I am greeting you for the last time for 2016! I always believed that as you aged somehow everything slowed down and you were able to look at life from the relative comfort of your favourite armchair. I have been proven wrong! All that remains now is to fill all the biscuit tins for the holidays and to haul the Christmas tree and decorations out of the roof where we stash them every year.

I have ordered my gammon and trimmings and bought the Quality Street sweets that we cannot get through a festive season without! Keep an eye on the portal for a couple more festive recipes I have to share with you.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a peaceful and safe New Year.

The Pizzeria at Under Oaks
  
 
Situated in the historical Jonkmanshuis/wine cellar at Under Oaks is the  delightful independent pizzeria owned and run by Chilean expat Marcelo Bassi and his wife Tanya. You need to book in advance for a table at this highly popular eatery, well known for its amazing authentic handmade wood fired pizzas.

Joe is an amazing guy! We met him on our arrival when he showed us around and guided us to our suite for the night. Joe is one of those guys who can do everything. Seriously! We soon had him pegged as "Manuel" after the character in Fawlty Towers! Here is   his delicious recipe for crispy granola to try for yourself.

The annual Proe Paarl Festival is currently happening until the 18th December. If you havent attended any of the fabulous events try and get there. If not then plan on attending in 2017. Well worth it as we discovered this past weekend when we visited Mellasat Vineyard's Pop up kitchen with an amazing 7 course Degustation Menu

This is probably the most baked recipe in my vast folder of family recipes handed down to me or collected by me over the past 50 years. A versatile, very easy recipe to bake if you have a jar of ready bought fruit mincemeat. Give them a try. I am sure you will love them as much as my family does.
